THE OMEN

Finished: I don't even remember
Rating: 10000/10

This is literally my favorite movie EVER. This movie has stuck with me for a very very very long time and it is a big part of who I am and what media I like. I love The Omen. I love every single adaption to it, I love the books, I love it all. I even have a special edition of the soundtrack on vinyl that I gifted myself for my birthday. The is probably something that means the absolute most to me, possibly more than music. Or at least right up there with it.
This movie was filmed in 1976. It follows a young boy named Damien Thorn as he goes through some changes in his life. He is young, attending his own birthday party before something terrifying happens. All of the kids go running, yet Damien is sitting there laughing. Damien is an odd little boy, he becomes aware of his powers and realizes he is the son of Satan himself. You follow Damien through his story of attempting to take over his household, turning his mother against her own husband as she starts to realize there is something wrong with her boy. No one else seems to notice what's wrong with Damien, as he has taken everyone over. The story continues in five parts. We follow him through his childhood, then off to military school he goes, where things go wrong there, then he is a grown man in the world of politics.
In the fourth movie, titled 'The Awakening', we get rid of our main character, Damien, and move on to a sweet little girl. A couple is having issues with conceiving, so they turn to adoption. But the little girl they adopt is not all that she seems to be. They start to notice Satanic things happening to her and the world around them.

In the latest addition to the series of movies, 'The First Omen' touches base on a series of events happening before the birth of Damien. It is actually a story of how he is born and come to be. It was a really good movie! I just recently finished it on February 11th with my girlfriend and we both loved it. I feel I am a bit elitist about these movies and quite bitter about newer things that come about, but this movie was amazing in every aspect. It was scary without all the cheap jumpscares, it felt real, it was raw and emotional, you really felt for every character there, even if they barely got any screentime or weren't very fleshed out. I really appreciate the nod to the original movie as well. It's all for you!
The books are also extremely beautiful and very well written. I love movies, but I love books even more. I love being able to be in the minds of every single character. In the original movie, we never really learn much about the preist before his death. But in the book, we get an entire beautiful backstory on him! It's very very gorgeous and I adore eveyrthing about the books.
The Omen has really become so important to me that Damien is also my favorite character from South Park, as well as I have found a huge love for the game Lucius! Anything that has to do with the Antichrist and Damien Thorn will always be one of my favorite things ever and I WILL find it!!
